HQE’s success in delivering Caltrans’ projects for local agencies is evidenced by the I-80 and I-580 corridor projects. On the I-80 corridor, HQE participated in the Value Analysis team that recommended the use of Roundabouts in lieu of signalized intersections at the I-80 Ashby-Shellmound interchange. Subsequently, we prepared a Supplemental Project Study Report and obtained Caltrans and FHWA concept approval to pursue the Roundabout Alternative. That approval is the first of its kind on an Interstate facility in District 04. HQE submitted the Administrative Draft Project Report and Environmental Document (EA/IS) in March 2007.

HQE has quickly gained Caltrans approval from project inception through construction for the I-580 Hacienda Drive Interchange, the I-580 San Ramon Road Interchange, and the I-580 Tassajara Road Interchange. In addition, HQE served as the Tri-Valley Project Manager for the Route 84 Project Study Report which included traffic analysis of the I-580/I-680 Route 84 triangle, and was a team member on the Value Analysis studies for the I-580 Isabel Interchange and the I-580 Vasco Road Interchange. Completion of the I-580 corridor projects emphasizes our continued success, which is based on our technical knowledge and experience, ability to coordinate among multiple agencies while being sensitive to clients concerns, and to build a consensus among project participants while delivering the project successfully and on time.
